The Gandan monastery is one of the most important and also the biggest Tibetan-style monasteries in Mongolia. It is situated in the capital - UlaanBaatar and urrently has over 150 monks in residence. The full name, Gandantegchinlen, translates roughly as 'the great place of complete joy'.

While entering to the courtyard, you can feel how relaxed is the atmosphere there, as well as the pigeons, flying around and waiting for someone to feed them. I went to the monastery early in the morning, which gave me the advantage to see the monks in preparation for morning pray.
